maryland wedding quick info

Maryland is one of my favorite places to photograph weddings because you really can find a little bit of everything here. Historic mansions tucked into gardens, beautiful churches, waterfront celebrations, charming estates, and venues with enough character that they hardly need decorating.

From Frederick to Baltimore, Annapolis to the Eastern Shore, every part of Maryland has its own personality. And I love finding the little details that make your venue and your wedding feel like yours.

As a Maryland wedding photographer with 7+ years of experience in the region, I help couples create a wedding day that leaves room for the things that actually matter. I'll help you build a timeline that makes sense, guide you through the portraits you want, and then step back when the real stuff starts happening.

Because I want you to have beautiful photographs, absolutely. But I also want you to actually enjoy the people you're celebrating with.

Take a peek at some of my favorite moments from Maryland weddings I've photographed. From historic estates and garden venues in Frederick to waterfront celebrations and elegant venues around Baltimore and Annapolis, Maryland gives us so many beautiful places to tell your story.

And while I love a good grand staircase and a gorgeous sunset, it's the people in these photographs that make them worth keeping.

planning tips for weddings in maryand

1. Chase the Best Light
Good light can completely change a photograph. When we build your timeline, I'll help you figure out when we can sneak away for portraits so you get that beautiful Maryland glow without feeling like you've disappeared from your own reception.

2. Let Your Venue Be Part of the Story
Maryland's historic mansions, gardens, churches, and waterfront venues have so much character. Instead of trying to make every photograph look the same, we'll use the spaces that make your wedding feel like your wedding.

3. Have a Plan for Rain
Maryland weather likes to keep us guessing. Thankfully, beautiful photographs don't require perfect weather. We'll have a plan for your portraits so a little rain doesn't derail the day.

4. Leave Yourself Some Breathing Room
Your wedding day will go by ridiculously fast. Give yourself a little space in the timeline to actually enjoy it. Those few extra minutes with your new husband, your parents, or your best friends can end up being some of the moments you remember most.

5. Think About Your People
Your guests have traveled, gotten dressed up, and probably been looking forward to this day for a long time too. I'll help you make room for the family photos and group portraits that matter without letting them take over the entire afternoon.

Don't Forget the In-Between Moments
Some of my favorite photographs happen after the "important" part is technically over. The hug after the ceremony. Your friends pulling you onto the dance floor. Your mom fixing your veil. The two of you sneaking away for five minutes because you need a breather.

Those moments count, too.

Few wedding destinations balance history, charm, and natural beauty quite like Maryland. You can get married in a grand historic mansion, say your vows in a little church, celebrate in a garden, or watch the sunset over the water.

And that's one of the things I love most about photographing Maryland weddings. No two celebrations look exactly alike.

Whether you're planning a big, beautiful wedding surrounded by everyone you love or something smaller and more intimate, I'll photograph the details you've carefully chosen, the people who made the day possible, and all the little moments happening around you.

Amanda completely understood the idea we had for "day before" and "day of" photos without needing much input from us, and then she took the execution into her own hands so we (the couple) did not have to worry about it. She was very good at adapting and making things work when our wedding plans changed right at the last minute (they always do). Two thumbs up!!"

"We are so glad to have you as our photographer! And your wonderful team too! So grateful for your stunning work and awesome energy Our fairytale perfect photographer- dreams do come true! 💕

Your Maryland
Wedding Photographer

I don't think you should have to choose between beautiful wedding portraits and photographs that actually feel like you.

My approach is a mix of gentle direction and honest storytelling. I'll tell you where to stand when you need a little help, make sure we photograph the family combinations you'll want years from now, and find those little pockets of good light throughout the day.

Then I'll get out of the way.

Because I want you to be with your people. Laugh with your friends. Hug your mom. Enjoy cocktail hour. Dance with your new husband. Be present enough that you don't spend your entire wedding wondering where your photographer went.

I'll be there. I just won't need to be in the middle of everything.

And when you get your gallery, I want you to see more than pretty pictures. I want you to recognize the people you love, remember how the room felt, and immediately be transported right back to that day.

some venues in the maryland area

Maryland offers an incredible variety of towns and hidden gems that make unforgettable wedding destinations. In Baltimore, couples can celebrate in vibrant city settings with historic charm and elegant venues like the Peabody Library, Baltimore Museum of Art, and Visitation, perfect for those who love sophisticated, urban celebrations. Just a short drive away, Towson, Catonsville, and Ellicott City feature estates and mansions such as Gramercy Mansion, Liriodendron Mansion, and Cloisters, offering beautifully manicured gardens and classic architecture that feel tucked away while still close to the city.

For those who love historic charm and countryside elegance, Frederick and Carroll County are home to remarkable estates and mansions like Antrim 1844, Whitehall, Prosperity Mansion, Grey Rock Mansion, and Ceresville Mansion. These venues pair sweeping lawns, grand staircases, and elegant interiors with a peaceful, intimate atmosphere. Nearby, vineyards like Big Cork Vineyards and The Overhills Mansion offer rolling hills and scenic views that make perfect backdrops for outdoor ceremonies.

Couples looking for unique or coastal settings often turn to the Eastern Shore, with venues such as Tilgheman Island, Tidal Basin Inn, and Londontowne & Gardens. These locations provide waterfront charm, private beaches, and relaxed, romantic atmospheres that feel far from the bustle of the city. Smaller, intimate spots—like Pleasant Hill House, Shrine of St. Anthony, or even your own backyard—give couples the freedom to celebrate in meaningful, personalized spaces.

For larger celebrations, venues like 1840's Plaza, Walkers Overlook, and Dulaney's Overlook offer grand ballrooms, expansive estates, and elegant outdoor areas, perfect for hosting family and friends in style. The Carriage House and Overhills Mansion combine historic charm with flexible spaces, allowing couples to create a wedding that feels both timeless and unique.

From city sophistication to countryside romance, from historic estates to waterfront retreats, Maryland is filled with venues that bring their own personality to every wedding day. No matter which corner of the state you choose, there’s a perfect place to say “I do.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

1. How much does a wedding photographer in Maryland cost?
Most couples in Maryland spend between $4,000–$8,000 for wedding photography, depending on the number of hours, the photographer’s experience, and whether extras like albums or engagement sessions are included.

2. How far in advance should we book a Maryland wedding photographer?
It’s best to book 9–12 months before your wedding. Northern Virginia wedding dates fill quickly, especially in spring and fall, so early booking gives you the most options.

Most couples choose 8 hours of coverage, which usually includes getting ready, the ceremony, portraits, and part of the reception. Smaller weddings may only need 6 hours, while larger events may need 10+.

5. What’s included in your Maryland wedding photography packages?
Packages typically include full-day coverage, an online gallery, and high-resolution edited images. Some also include engagement sessions, second photographers, and albums.
