Burnside Farms Tulip Field Spring Engagement Session | Megan & Matt | Maryland Wedding Photographer
A dream come true
When Megan and Matt agreed to a tulip field engagement session, I was so excited! I had been wanting to return to the illustrious Burnside Farms since visiting with my mom for mother’s day a few years back. Man, the ideas I had! In all honesty, this session was made for these two! They exuded so much joy and youthful love, it wouldn’t make sense to do a session anywhere else! We had an amazing time traipsing through the fields during peak bloom on the first day of opening. This meant the fields were still full and no one had completely trampled the flowers yet. The sunset was a the perfect glow and the looming storm behind us held off until after nightfall.
Where all good stories start
While we were waiting for the last of the visitors to leave the fields, I got to know more about how these two sweet lovebirds met. Turns out they met at college their freshmen year! Can you imagine spending your entire college career with the person you are going to marry? What an adventure that must have been! Megan saw Matt at a cookout for their ministry club and decided to go talk to him. Turns out that was the best choice she could have made. The conversation flowed so easily and they felt instantly comfortable with each other.
Thwarted by Florence
After an amazing eclipse viewing beach vacation a few years back, these two were more than excited to return to Myrtle beach for another vacay. But nature had other plans. Hurricane Florence to be exact. So the trip had to be postponed for a month. We don’t quite know for sure, but it seems like Matt was planning to pop the question then, knowing that the beach is Megan’s favorite place. So it would make sense to ask there. Having to wait a month must have been brutal. The weekend of their trip comes and the two go for a morning walk. Since it was a bit chilly out, Megan assumed it would be a short one. But Matt wants to keep walking. Megan is getting a little suspicious now, but she agrees. As they are walking and watching the waves, Matt starts to ask about her dreams and goals for life. Megan asks him the same question and his answer is the most romantic Aww moment ever: “I want to marry you. Megan will you marry me?”
A Slow Build
Falling in love isn’t always instantaneous. Sometimes it is gradual and that was totally the case for these two.
For Megan it wasn’t a specific day that it just dawned on her as an absolute truth. “It was just build-up over time.” Small moments like the time they were helping at a kid’s carnival, and he was helping a little girl put her shoes on, or even a more broad set of moments like when Matt was always there to comfort her when she had a bad exam or a stressful assignment. “Anyone who knows me knows I’m a little high stress, and he’s the calmest person so we balance each other out.” For Matt, it was more about why he loved her, rather than when. “Throughout our relationship, Megan has been supportive and excited to go through life’s challenges with me. She is consistent with the love and compassion she shows me, and I have never had a reason to doubt her commitment to me.” Ah the sweetest of loves! I can’t wait for their wedding this June at the Whitehall Estate!
