Choosing your wedding venue is about so much more than finding a beautiful backdrop. It’s the place where you’ll spend the morning getting ready with the people who have loved you through every season of life. It’s where your family will watch you promise forever. It’s where you’ll celebrate, laugh, hug, and soak in the moments you’ll never get back.

The best Maryland wedding venues don’t just photograph beautifully. They create a feeling.

A historic mansion might make you feel like you stepped into another time. A garden venue might give you space to slow down and breathe. A waterfront celebration might feel relaxed and effortless. The right venue becomes part of the experience you create for yourselves and the people you love. As a Maryland wedding photographer, I’ve had the joy of photographing weddings throughout Maryland and the surrounding DMV area, including Washington DC, Virginia, and Pennsylvania. Over the years, I’ve learned that the venues couples love most are not always the ones with the biggest names. They’re the ones that feel connected to who they are and the experience they want to create for their guests.

If you’re searching for the perfect Maryland wedding venue, these are some of the spaces I love most and what makes each one special.

Maryland Wedding Photographer captures a ceremony moment at Gramercy Mansion

Gramercy Mansion Wedding Venue | Stevenson, MD

There is something incredibly special about a wedding at Gramercy Mansion. From the moment you arrive, it feels like a place where stories have been unfolding for generations.
The historic mansion, lush gardens, and elegant details create a romantic setting that feels timeless without feeling too formal. It’s a venue where you can have quiet moments getting ready inside the mansion, step outside for portraits surrounded by greenery, and celebrate with your favorite people all in one beautiful space.
One of my favorite things about Gramercy Mansion is how naturally the day flows. You don’t feel rushed from one location to the next. Instead, there is room for the moments in between: the deep breaths before walking down the aisle, the hugs with family after the ceremony, and the little interactions you may not even realize happened.
As a Gramercy Mansion wedding photographer, this is exactly what I love preserving. Not just how the venue looked, but how it felt to be there.

Final Thoughts

Maryland is home to so many incredible wedding venues, from historic mansions and garden estates to waterfront celebrations and unique city spaces. But the most meaningful weddings are not defined by the venue alone.

The spaces you choose become part of your story. The room where you get ready with your favorite people. The path you walk down before saying “I do.” The place where your family hugs you a little tighter and your friends celebrate this next chapter with you.

When you’re choosing your wedding venue, think about more than just how it looks. Think about how it feels. Does it give you room to slow down? Does it feel like a place where you can truly be present with the people you love?

Because years from now, you won’t just remember the flowers or the details. You’ll remember the feeling of that day and the people who were there to share it with you.

That’s what I love preserving most — the moments that make your wedding day yours.

Maryland Wedding Photography FAQ

Planning a wedding comes with a lot of decisions, and choosing the right photographer is one of the biggest ones. Below are some of the most common questions couples ask me while planning weddings throughout Maryland, Washington DC, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and beyond.

1. How far in advance should we book a Maryland wedding photographer?

Most couples book their wedding photographer 12–18 months in advance, especially for popular spring and fall dates. If you have a specific venue or wedding date you love, reaching out early gives you the best chance of finding the right photographer and building a photography experience that fits your day.

2. What venues in Maryland are best for photos?

The best Maryland wedding venues are the ones that feel connected to your vision for the day. Historic mansions like Gramercy Mansion and Liriodendron Mansion offer timeless architecture and romantic gardens, while waterfront venues like Whitehall create beautiful coastal moments. Ultimately, the right venue is one that gives you space to be present, celebrate with your guests, and create memories that feel like you.

3. Can you photograph weddings outside Maryland?

Absolutely! While I’m based in Maryland, I regularly photograph weddings throughout Washington DC, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and beyond. I love traveling for weddings and getting to experience new venues and locations. Travel fees may apply depending on the distance, and I’m always happy to create a custom quote based on your celebration.

4. How many hours of coverage do most Maryland weddings need?

Every wedding day is different, so coverage depends on what matters most to you. Many couples choose around 8 hours because it allows time for getting ready, portraits, the ceremony, and a meaningful portion of the reception. Smaller weddings and intimate celebrations often need less coverage, while multi-location celebrations or larger weddings may benefit from additional time.

5. What’s included in your Maryland wedding photography collections?

Every AMS collection is designed around documenting the moments, emotions, and details that make your wedding day unique. Collections can include coverage time, planning support, engagement sessions, heirloom albums, second photographers, and beautifully edited images delivered through a private online gallery. Because every wedding is different, collections can be customized around what matters most to you.

6. When will we receive our wedding photos?

After your wedding day, I’ll begin carefully selecting and editing your images to create a gallery that feels true to your experience. You’ll receive a preview of 3 favorite images within a few days of your wedding so you have something special to relive and share while the excitement is still fresh. Your full gallery will follow once editing is complete, filled with the moments, emotions, and details that tell the full story of your day. My goal is not just to deliver images, but to create a collection of memories you’ll be excited to revisit for years to come.

7. Do you offer engagement or portrait sessions?

Yes! Engagement sessions are one of my favorite parts of the AMS experience. They give us a chance to spend time together before your wedding day, get comfortable in front of the camera, and create beautiful images during this season of your relationship. They’re also a great way to celebrate your engagement beyond the wedding planning process.

8. Will you help us with posing?

Absolutely. My approach is a mix of natural moments and gentle guidance. You do not need to know how to pose or feel comfortable in front of a camera before working with me. I’ll guide you when needed while still leaving room for the genuine interactions, laughter, and emotions that make your photos feel like you.

9. Do you photograph smaller weddings and intimate celebrations?

Yes! Intimate weddings are actually one of my favorite types of celebrations to photograph. Smaller guest lists often create so much space for meaningful moments — from intentional ceremonies to deeper connections with family and friends. I bring the same care, artistry, and attention to detail whether you’re celebrating with 20 guests or 200.

10. What happens if it rains on our wedding day?

Rain does not mean your wedding photos have to be anything less than beautiful. I always help couples create a plan for different weather situations, whether that means adjusting locations, shifting the timeline, or finding creative ways to use indoor spaces. Sometimes unexpected weather creates some of the most memorable images.

11. Do you recommend a second photographer?

A second photographer can be helpful depending on your timeline, guest count, and how much of the day you want documented. For larger weddings, multiple locations, or moments happening at the same time, having another photographer allows us to capture even more moments happening throughout your day. I’ll always help you decide what makes the most sense for your day.

12. Do you offer albums, prints and artwork?

Yes! Your wedding photos deserve to exist beyond a screen. I offer heirloom albums, fine art prints, and artwork designed to help you preserve and enjoy your favorite memories in your home. With certain collections, you’ll also receive a print consultation where we’ll walk through your favorites together and create artwork that feels personal to you, without the process feeling overwhelming. An album especially is one of my favorite ways to revisit your wedding day because it allows you to experience those moments again and again.

Strong Mansion Wedding Photographer captures a beautiful couples first dance on the grounds under a their tented reception.

13. How do we reserve our wedding date?

Once you decide you’d like to work together, the next steps are simple. We’ll choose the collection that fits your day, sign your contract, and secure your date with a retainer. From there, we’ll continue planning together so you feel supported throughout the entire process.

14. Can wedding photography collections be customized?

Yes! Every wedding has different priorities, and your photography experience should reflect that. Whether you want more coverage, an album, an engagement session, additional artwork, or something completely unique, we can build a collection around what matters most to you.

15. How do we get started?

The easiest way to begin is by reaching out through my contact form. I’ll check your date, send over collection information, and we can chat about your plans and what you’re envisioning for your wedding day. I’d love to hear your story and see if AMS feels like the right fit for you.
