MY BIRTHDAY ADVENTURE | ADVENTURE | MARYLAND WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER
It was seriously the dreariest of days and to be honest, it’s something I’ve gotten used to. I very rarely have a warm sunny day on my birthday (except last year! See here). My options for fun ways to celebrate were limited. We could either go snow tubing, ice skating, or bowling. All things that require skill in the hand-eye coordination area. And then lo and behold, an email pops up on my phone and it’s perfect!
Longwood Gardens has made it’s personal mission, I believe, to bring color and life to every season. (Yes, even February). So while the grounds are pretty bare and sad, the conservatory was alive with spectacular vibrancy you wouldn’t believe! To celebrate February, they put on an Orchid Extravaganza! You would not believe the arrangements and the colors that greeted us when we walked in! Rooms and rooms of orchids! Hanging orchids, orchids in balls, orchids on walls, orchids crawling up columns, you get the picture.
It’s truly a stunning reflection of true artistry and creativity! (Perfect for me right?) Now, I should preface this with the fact that this place is just outside of Philadelphia, so it’s a bit of a hike, but with a good audio book and some great company, the trip is rather enjoyable. And I always end it with a stop at the Quiznos on the way out, so the fact that I get my lobster sub makes it even more worth it! It really was a great birthday trip and made the fact that we got snowed in on my actual birthday, a little less irritating.
