COZY & HEARTWARMING GRAMERCY MANSION FALL WEDDING | STEPHANE AND JOSH | MARYLAND WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER | AMANDA MACPHEE STUDIOS

This was the PERFECT way to wrap up the fall wedding season! Now I don’t say this often, but this just might be MY FAVORITE wedding yet! Not only did we get amazing weather and fall colors, but the vibe of this day was just unreal! Almost every detail was handmade by the bride herself (be sure to scroll down to peep the hundreds of paper cranes she folded for the wedding arch!) and curated to fit the event and the bride and grooms personalities so well! As a fellow nerd of all things fantasy, I was blown away by all the little details hidden in this day that paid homage to all sorts of fandoms out there. The DJ played little easter egg sounds all throughout the reception that just made you pause because it sounds familiar but you can’t quite place it and then you realize that soft warm music is Super Mario! The toasts were fun and jubilant, the vows heartwarming and full of big belly laughs, and the joy was just beyond unreal! I felt like I had been transported to another world where all my sense were just overwhelmed with happy warm feelings. Also side note, theater people are the best. Just saying!

The sun dips down low, and just beyond the trees you can hear a swell of laughter down in the garden below. An entire assembly of gorgeously clad humans watch two of their favorite people pledge their love to one another with personal vows, witty banter, and adorable anecdotes detailing the day they knew this was their person and all the little things that they love about them and their imperfect, yet amazing life together. The officiant breaks up the sweet moments with moments of hilarity and perfect showmanship, setting the tone for a very fun adventure up ahead. And now it is finally time, Stephanie and Josh are pronounced husband and wife and the whole place erupts with cheers, whoops and hollers (and a few goose honks).

Legend of Zelda, Super Mario, Disney, and Kingdom Hearts have never sounded better than in soft instrumentals! I vote for all weddings to use this dose of nostalgia during cocktail hour! While waiting for the bride and groom to make their grand entrance down the staircase, guests could sign their custom gameboard mat, peruse the quest cards detailing small factoids about their love story, or marvel at the super detailed (and almost interactive) centerpieces the bride made! Toasts were straight out of Broadway….that goes for the dancing too! I have never seen such a variety of dance moves on one dancefloor!!! It was a cacophany of fun and timeless joy! And for those guests that preferred a different pastime, there were cards, lego sets, or games to enjoy too! The evening ended with a rousing round of “Don’t Stop Believing” and some pie to go!

Stephanie and Josh, I can’t even put into words how AMAZINGLY WONDERFUL you two are! (I mean I did try above, but still no dice) You created a perfectly curated event with every single guest in mind, details that not only tell your story, but show just how much you love your guests. Never mind how much you love each other! Your vows were so heartwarming and every person and detail you chose to add to the day all worked seamlessly together in something almost like a production in and of itself! I loved being able to capture even just a small piece of your world. Congratulations and all the best!!!
