spectacular and utterly romantic

a white iron ridge wedding in kansas, MO

This day was a long time coming! I met Lily and Chris back in 2020 for their DC engagement session. And yes, you can't tell, but we were freezing! From there we have had sessions every year since. In 2021, we took some more engagement photos at Airlie, in 2022 we switched it up and wandered the local Target and now it is finally Sept 23, 2023! It seems like we've been waiting forever! I love these two and their adorable energy. Not to mention how our creative energies just bounce off of each other so well! Anyone who was at this wedding would tell you what an honor it is to know them and their love!

No wedding is ever exactly the same. Each one has it's own unique details that best encapsulate the story of the bride and groom. Some even God given!

One of the best things about a wedding venue is windows and white walls! I know, I know. Super boring. But as a photographer, I can see the dreamy glow this is going to cast on the whole day. And man oh man were those angelic vibes present. Lily and Chris even did their first look at the top of the staircase for extra epic vibes!

You walk in and POW!

"I loved this little break in their day"

Lily really wanted to do a second dress for the reception and Chris was all too happy to make that happen. I remember at one of their sessions she was gushing about how she just couldn't choose between the two because she loved them both, and he said, without missing a beat, that she should have both! I mean seriously! This is just one of the small ways these two show their love for each other. But I digress... As a way to really soak in the fact that after the longest engagement, they were finally married, they did a dress change. The intimate and beautiful moment was so special to be a part of and watching them unwind from wedding mode was like a blind being lifted to their true selves.

A Tad Untraditional

"This was hands down my favorite part of the day!"

So the first dress was beyond amazing (it actually got its own seat on the plane ride) and the infectious joy coming from Lily was adorable, but once she changed into her second dress, you could tell she was so much more comfortable and that shone through for the rest of the night.

THE SECOND DRESS

"probably one of the best ways I've seen to see every guest"

Typically spending a second with every single guest is near impossible. There have been all sorts of suggestions floating around social media and the blogs. But one I haven't seen was this idea. So after their dinner, Lily and Chris made the rounds to each table, but instead of a quick hi and bye, they had a toast with each table. Probably my favorite reception photos yet. It got all the guests involved, gave the bride and groom some really fun photos with their guests, and started the party off right!

A Cheers to You!

"I couldn't have asked for a better couple to have my first destination wedding with"

It is a wonderful feeling when my couple and I get to the wedding day as friends rather than simply client and photographer. These two made me and my team feel so special the whole time. There were daily texts checking in on me as I dealt with my airport fiasco, food for breakfast, rides from family if I needed to get anything outside the hotel, a 9 course meal at the wedding, a place card with my name on it just like a guests, and a list of things to do after the wedding as they knew I was planning to stay an extra day and explore. For those 4 days, I was family and that is extremely special to me!

"You are so warm and fun to work with that we decided to upgrade our wedding package to include the Client for Life. You gave wonderful suggestions on photo timelines and had constant communication with us. The photos are natural and timeless and you captured real and romantic moments. We are fortunate to have a continued relationship with you as we do our yearly photoshoots!"
